What does early ratio mean?

I have a '91 which I believe is 23.
I notice quite a bit of metal deposits on magnet when changing oil....sign of excessive bearing wear?

Yes, bearing wear is common. There were two different ratios with the 23 spline t-case. You have the early ratio which was used from 91-96.

Thanks for the clarification.
Looks like I might have been underservicing it per your tech tip.
First up is the transmission...which I sent a couple of question on.
Only thing I don't understand is why you include a double syncro first gear and what benefit does it add.

Yes, responded to your email.

The double 1st is only useful if you like shifting into 1st gear while the car is still in motion. If you only go into 1st when at a stop, then there is no need to have a double 1st. The OEM single 1st is very hard to get into gear while the car is moving.
